1. Plate Tectonics

Dekho aise samjho —

Earth ki outer layer — lithosphere — solid nahi hai ek piece mein. Yeh badi badi plates mein divided hai. Inhe tectonic plates kehte hain.

Yeh plates Earth ke andar molten rock — magma — ke upar float karti hain. Aur slowly move karti hain. Bahut slowly — sirf kuch centimeters per year. But karod saalon mein? Bahut bada difference.

Teen types ke plate boundaries hain:

  • Convergent — plates ek doosre ki taraf aati hain → mountains bante hain, earthquakes aate hain
  • Divergent — plates alag hoti hain → oceans bante hain, new land banta hai
  • Transform — plates ek doosre ke saath slide karti hain → earthquakes aate hain

2. Process of Weathering and Erosion

Toh basically yeh do alag cheezein hain — log confuse ho jaate hain.

Weathering = rocks ka tootna, apni jagah pe. Erosion = tooti hui material ka ek jagah se doosri jagah jaana.

3. Weathering

Weathering matlab rocks ka in-place breakdown.

Teen types:

Physical Weathering — temperature changes se rocks crack hoti hain. Garmi mein expand, thandi mein contract — baar baar hone se toot jaati hain.

Chemical Weathering — paani aur chemicals rocks ke minerals ko change kar dete hain. Rust lagna ek example hai.

4. Erosion

Erosion matlab — weathering se tooti hui material ka transport hona.

Paani utha ke le jaata hai. Hawa ud ke le jaati hai. Glaciers push karke le jaate hain.

Jahan yeh material drop hoti hai — wahan naye landforms bante hain. Deltas, flood plains, sand dunes — sab erosion ka result hain.


5. Agents of Gradation

Gradation ke agents matlab — woh cheezein jo Earth ki surface ko reshape karti hain.

6. Running Water

Sabse powerful agent of erosion.

Teen stages hain:

Upper Course — pahaad pe. Fast flow. Deep V-shaped valleys banati hai. Waterfalls yahan hote hain.

7. Waterfall

Jab nadi ek hard rock se soft rock pe aati hai — soft rock jaldi ghis jaata hai. Hard rock upar reh jaata hai. Nadi neeche girne lagti hai.

Wahi waterfall hai.

Jab maine pehli baar yeh samjha — laga ki Niagara Falls bhi aise hi bana hoga. Aur haan, exactly aise hi bana.


8. Meander

Nadi jab plain area mein aati hai — flow slow ho jaata hai.

Slow flow mein nadi seedhi nahi chalti. Woh curves banane lagti hai. Yeh curves — meanders kehlaate hain.

Kabhi kabhi ek meander itna curve ho jaata hai ki nadi apna hi loop kaat deti hai. Woh isolated loop — oxbow lake ban jaata hai.


9. Deltas

Jab nadi samundar ya lake mein milti hai — uski speed almost zero ho jaati hai.

Speed zero — toh jo bhi material carry kar rahi thi, woh sab wahan drop ho jaata hai.

Yeh deposited material — delta banata hai. Triangle shape mein.

Ganga-Brahmaputra delta — Sundarbans — duniya ka sabse bada delta hai. Aur woh yahan India mein hai.


10. Waves and Currents

Samundar ki waves — coastlines ko continuously reshape karti hain.

Currents — samundar ke andar paani ka flow — sediment ek jagah se doosri jagah le jaata hai.

Coastal landforms beautiful hote hain. But waves bahut powerful hoti hain — tsunamis tab aate hain jab yeh power extreme ho jaati hai.


11. Glaciers

Glaciers matlab — badi badi ice ki rivers.

Pahaad pe snow jama hota hai, compress hota hai, ice ban jaata hai, aur slowly neeche slide karne lagta hai. Yahi glacier hai.

Glacier apne saath bahut bada material carry karta hai — rocks, soil, debris. Jab pighalta hai — woh sab wahan drop ho jaata hai.

Glacier se bane landforms:

12. Wind

Desert areas mein — wind sabse powerful agent hai.

Erosion by wind:

  • Deflation — loose material ud jaata hai
  • Abrasion — wind sand particles se rocks ko ghisti hai — jaise sandpaper

Deposition by wind:

  • Sand dunes — wind sand deposit karti hai → dunes bante hain
  • Loess — fine dust bahut door tak ud ke deposit hoti hai

Thar Desert ke dunes — wind ka hi kaam hai.


13. Underground Water

Yeh thoda less obvious agent hai. But bahut powerful.

Jab paani zameen ke andar jaata hai — limestone jaisi rocks ko dissolve karne lagta hai.

Isse bante hain:

  • Caves — underground hollow spaces
  • Stalactites — cave ki ceiling se neeche latak rahe mineral formations
  • Stalagmites — cave ke floor se upar uthte mineral formations
  • Sinkholes — jab zameen ka andar hollow ho jaata hai aur surface collapse ho jaati hai

Jab yeh dam suddenly toot jaata hai — lake ka paani ek saath bahut tezi se neeche aata hai.
